Remembering Evelyn Miller

The last photo taken of Evelyn.
Five year-old Evelyn Celeste Miller vanished on the morning of July 1st, 2005 from a Floyd, Iowa apartment. Her mother, Noel Miller, was a nursing assistant and came home that morning to Evelyn's bedroom door open, along with Evelyn nowhere to be seen. Her shoes and belongings were all still in the apartment. Her mother believed she was abducted, although there wasn't any leads to a suspect or vehicle description.
After six days of searching on July 6, 2005, a recreational kayak-er made a grisly discovery in the Cedar  River: the body of a young girl. It was later to be determined to be Evelyn Miller. She was located 2 miles from her home. Authorities never released her cause of death, but her mother is convinced she did not drown. She believes someone put her body in the Cedar River. Evelyn had been taught to never go anywhere without wearing her shoes. Her shoes were left behind in her room.
At the time, an Amber Alert was never issued to Evelyn. (Perhaps because they had no evidence of an abduction, or vehicle description). Her mother still believes one should have been issued. (I would agree). Evelyn's murder remains unsolved.
Evelyn was a beautiful, and smart girl. She loved being wit her family. She had so much ahead of her! This memorial was set up in honor of her, and all who loved her.
