In Memory of Shakira Johnson

Shakira Monet Johnson
Shakira Monet Johnson was 11 years old when she vanished on September 13, 2003. She was heading to a convenience store to purchase something for a block party she was attending, not far from her home in Cleveland, Ohio. She vanished in broad daylight. An Amber Alert was never issued for Shakira Johnson, despite possible description of a vehicle.
One month later, on October 15, 2003, her body was found in a field behind an abandoned warehouse and a silk screening business near East 71st Street, east of downtown, by some railroad tracks. She had been sexually assaulted.
Police had an apparent suspect brought to their attention, by the name of Daniel Hines. Hines had previous sexual accusations against children, and had been said to be at or around the block party. Further investigation also found physical evidence linking him to Shakira's disappearance, such as her blood found in his home, along with other bags that match the one she was found in. A jail inmate also testified that Hines had confessed to the murder. Despite all that, Hines was acquitted of the murder of Shakira Monet Johnson. Many people, along with many detectives, still believe he is responsible for Shakira's abduction and murder. Due to the acquittal in 2004, her case is marked as unsolved.
( I am absolutely stunned that they acquitted this man. There was no justice for this little girl, and now, there never will be. I do believe I have read in 2007, he was arrested for raping a 14 year old girl. I bet they are kicking themselves now for their decision.)
Shakira was a student at Nathan Hale Jr. High School. She was a member of the drill team and was a cheerleader. She was also an Honor and Merit Roll Student, with a very bright future ahead of her. My heart goes out to her wonderful mother and family! Always in our prayers, Shakira's story is one that is still talked about often, and impossible to forget!
Shakira's story is impossible to forget.
Please remember Shakira Monet Johnson at her Find a Grave memorial page.

Remembering Evelyn Miller

The last photo taken of Evelyn.
Five year-old Evelyn Celeste Miller vanished on the morning of July 1st, 2005 from a Floyd, Iowa apartment. Her mother, Noel Miller, was a nursing assistant and came home that morning to Evelyn's bedroom door open, along with Evelyn nowhere to be seen. Her shoes and belongings were all still in the apartment. Her mother believed she was abducted, although there wasn't any leads to a suspect or vehicle description.
After six days of searching on July 6, 2005, a recreational kayak-er made a grisly discovery in the Cedar  River: the body of a young girl. It was later to be determined to be Evelyn Miller. She was located 2 miles from her home. Authorities never released her cause of death, but her mother is convinced she did not drown. She believes someone put her body in the Cedar River. Evelyn had been taught to never go anywhere without wearing her shoes. Her shoes were left behind in her room.
At the time, an Amber Alert was never issued to Evelyn. (Perhaps because they had no evidence of an abduction, or vehicle description). Her mother still believes one should have been issued. (I would agree). Evelyn's murder remains unsolved.
Evelyn was a beautiful, and smart girl. She loved being wit her family. She had so much ahead of her! This memorial was set up in honor of her, and all who loved her.

If you have any information about the unsolved murder of Evelyn Miller, please contact Floyd County Sheriff's Office at 1-641-228-1821.

Remembering Our Missing Angels Stolen Too Soon

I have just finished reading, And Never See Her Again, a book written in honor of missing girl, Opal Jennings, who was later found deceased five years after she vanished. She was stolen off her grandmother's front lawn in Saginaw, Texas while playing with her little cousin and neighbor on March 26, 1999. A very powerful read, I can never forget it!
It has compelled me to start a sister blog to the one I already have: Dean Marie Pyle Peters & Missing Angels. A blog about cold, forgotten cases of those missing. Well, I would now like to start one sharing the stories of those missing persons who didn't stay missing, and who will never come home. I want us all to remember them, and never forget their stories. I will take it day by day with whom I add. Some of them also have Facebook or website created in memory of them, which I will also share with you! And if their case is unsolved, I will also post that information up too, so we may remember that they are still searching for justice, along with their families! If anyone has any requests for a loved one to be posted, please e-mail me: angelinafire@hotmail.com . Remember to read their stories, and say a prayer for the families! Thank you.
